Solder Practice

Artisan Electronics has developed a Printed Circuit Board (PCB) that includes all of the PCB mounted components required for J-STD-001 certification. Additionally, the PCB also includes pads for other common components found in the industry. This circuit board can be utilized to hone your own soldering skills, train others to solder, or it could simply be used unpopulated as a drink coaster.

Functionality

More on the idea of a drink coaster….That is actually what sets this solder practice PCB apart from others that are available. After a select number of simple components are installed, the PCB will illuminate LEDs in a circular pattern when an item is placed on the coaster, it will provide an underglow effect, and provide a heartbeat LED. It was also designed to be powered by two CR2032 batteries or a standard USB C cable.

Bare PCB: To purchase the bare PCB or a PCB with all of the flash parts populated, simply go to the Store page in the banner (or click here: Store), add the PCB to your cart, and checkout.

Flash Components: To purchase all of the components required for the heartbeat, underglow, and chase functionality we have created a link that will automatically populate a Digikey cart for you with all of the reference designators included in the Customer Reference section that will then be populated on the packaging in the CREF window. Please note that completing this build on your own does not automaticaly result in a J-STD-001 certification.
